Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Silver
The fabulous Milagro tequila was launched by Daniel Schneeweiss and Moises Guindi who were originally from Mexico city this was when more than 20% of the country’s crop of agave became infected from a bacteria. Due to the shortage of the agave due to this incident the price of the agave inflated significantly from about seven cents per kg to above $1.40 per kilo which according to Schneeweiss puts them out of business which also sheds light on the launch of his company over 15 years back.
The Milgaro tequila is created from one hundred percent blue agave and these are matured for eight to twelve years before they can be harvested by expert jimadors. After the agave is harvested, the pinas or the core of the agave is removed with a small knife. Then the pinas are taken to the distillery and are roasted in small ovens of clay for approximately 36 hours. It is due to these clay ovens which largely contribute to the lightly smoky flavor of the agave while comparing it to the stainless steel autoclaves which are utilized by the larger and most of the tequila distillers, which develop a more vigorous and sweet tequila.
Once the pinas have been roasted these are then crushed and are also fermented before it can be distilled to about three times. It is done twice through a pot made of copper and then it is done for the third time through a column still. Where most of the tequilas are distilled twice, in this case, the third distillation allows for the agave thrusting flavor silhouette.

To me, this is a great tequila to use in a tequila sunrise. I'm probably in the minority using a blanco tequila in that drink but that's just my personal preference.
