Probably one of the best drinks to have the day after a long night of drinking (outside a bloody mary, of course), is the tequila sunrise.
Other people will say it’s just a great way to start the day, sort of like a Mimosa (champagne and orange juice), but whatever your thoughts are on this exotic drink, there is no denying the popularity of the tequila sunrise.
How to Make a Tequila Sunrise
It’s not a difficult drink to make! This recipe is all over the place, but it’s echoed on one of my favorite sites for learning how to make mixed drinks – Drinkmixer.com.
Here is what you will need:
- Orange juice
- Tequila ( I suggest an ORO or GOLD (same thing ) for this drink
Over a highball glass with ice, pour one part tequila (one ounce is plenty) and top with orange juice. Leave about one inch to the top of the glass. Then, add the grenadine while tilting the glass on it’s side at a forty five degree angle. Gently pour the grenadine down the side of the glass. The grenadine should go to the bottom and then make it’s way back up to the top.
I’ve also done this by mixing in a shaker and actually prefer it this way. However, see which way you prefer by trying both.
Stay thirsty, my tequila sipping friends.
